Sidwell Basketball Coach Talen Watson

Talen Watson became the  girls’ varsity basketball head coach in 2025.

In her first year at Sidwell Friends, Watson finished the year with a 21-7 record, capturing the ISL AA title, and state runner up.

Before Sidwell, Watson is most known for being a member of the Nike Girls Elite Youth Basketball League and the Maryland Belles program. With her as their coach, the Belles captured three Nike Tournament of Champions titles. She also coached her EYBL teams to 4 Nike championships. She is a coach for Team Takeover EYBL.

Watson graduated from Arundel High School, where she played basketball all four years, including on the team that won the Maryland 4A State Championship in 2010. She earned a spot on the All-Met team that year and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee. After one season at the University of Massachusetts, she played for three years at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), competing at a high level and sharpening the skills that would later define her as a coach.
